The new style of subscription box from Crafty Creatives

A few months ago a friend, knowing I loved crafts and making things, sent across a link to Crafty Creatives. I used to subscribe to a beauty box and cancelled after a few months as I didn’t think I was getting much for my money so I was a bit apprehensive about signing up to another. However, after looking at the site properly and seeing the nautical box that had been sent out previously I fell in love!
Crafty Creatives

Each month, the Crafty Creatives team include a kit to make one project, and the rest is for you to use your imagination. The box is filled with materials and tools for making jewellery, scrapbooking, card-making and all sorts of other projects. My first box was the Oriental themed month and although I wasn’t immediately keen on the theme (it’s not a style I’d normally use when crafting) I was amazed at how much was stuffed into the box and wanted to get stuck in immediately. This month’s theme was Gothic, just in time for Halloween. Included in the box were:

  • CC Kit to make a lace eye mask, including lace, ribbon and a bottle of Tulip slick black fabric paint
  • 3 large purple resin flower beads
  • 1 large silver winged pendant
  • 1 glass cabachon with a gothic frame setting
  • 8 mini multicoloured skull beads
  • 10 silver studs
  • 2+2 metres of satin and organza ribbon
  • Vintage gothic and Halloween pictures
  • 2 wooden gothic windows
  • 50cm strip of spider web mesh
  • 2 decorative ring blanks
  • A bundle of cruelty-free feathers
  • 2 mini gothic keys
  • 1 fat quarter of black lace
  • 50cm black non-woven fabric

I’m so happy with this month’s box, especially the skull beads and studs (see images below). I can think of plenty of things I’m going to do with my hoard – I’ll turn the mini keys into earrings, I’ll use the black lace to make roses for my Halloween costume, I’ll put something pretty into the little frame with cabachon and glue it to one of the rings, and I’ll put the studs on one of the new shirts I bought last week.

I think quite a lot of the materials I get in these boxes will go into the kit for a rainy day, but it means that whenever I need to make a birthday or Christmas present, I’ll have lots of inspiration and everything I need. The team are lovely and friendly on Twitter, too, and regularly re-post projects that people have made using the materials. They also have an inspiring Pinterest account with ideas for each box.

The box is £10 + £2.95 p+p per month, and you can sign up through the website with no minimum monthly subscription. Crafty Creatives don’t currently offer a gift subscription service or one-off but they’ve said it’s something they’re working on – hopefully this will happen soon as I think the box would make a great Christmas present.

Let us know if you sign up, and tweet us some pictures of your creations!

That looks fantastic! Once they do gift subscriptions, it’s going on my Xmas/birthday list :-)
